The World Steel Association (worldsteel) released its short-range outlook for 2014 and 2015. The organization forecasts that global apparent steel use will increase by 3.1% in 2014, which follows growth of 3.6% in 2013. In 2015, it is predicted that world steel demand will grow further by 3.3%. In the U.S., after a decrease of 0.6% in apparent steel use in 2013, apparent steel use is expected to grow by 4% in 2014 and by 3.7% in 2015. Apparent steel use in Mexico, meanwhile, is expected to grow by 3.4% in 2014 and by 3.9% in 2015.
