EFD Induction supplied its largest single-shot short-circuit ring brazing system to ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies. The system, which was installed at ABB’s plant in Vittuone, Italy, can braze rings with a diameter up to 1,500 mm (59 inches). The system consists of customized coils, an EFD Induction Sinac 250/320 power source and a mounting table. Its first project was to braze a 1,500-mm-diameter short-circuit ring for a wind-tunnel motor. EFD Induction’s largest system prior to this was for rings with a diameter up to 1,200 mm (47 inches).
