Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. received an order from Russian railcar manufacturer Tikhvin Chem Mash for the supply of two car-bottom furnaces used in the stress relieving of tanks and heads for the production of railway tank cars. The tanks and heads to be heat treated are a maximum 3,600 mm (142 inches) in diameter, and the length of the furnaces are approximately 25,000 mm (82 feet). A fall 2014 start-up is scheduled. Can-Eng previously supplied the company with a fully automated, robotically loaded 73,000-tons/year railway casting normalize and quench-and-temper facility for undercarriage components, mainly side frames, bolsters, yokes and couplers.
