Fives Stein, a designer and supplier of thermal solutions for steel applications, has been awarded a major contract from India’s Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), one of the largest steelmakers in the world. The order calls for a walking-beam furnace to be supplied to the Raigarh works of JSPL. The furnace will burn 100% blast-furnace (BF) gas as fuel through regenerative burners. It will also be equipped with a backup system for combustion-firing fuel oil to run the furnace when BF gas is not available. The furnace, which is scheduled to be commissioned in June 2015, will allow JSPL to better address its market with low-NOx emissions and the highest possible quality of steel. Fives Stein previously supplied three walking-beam furnaces for JSPL’s Patratu and Angul works.
