Tenova Core recently completed the design, supply and installation of a new 26-ton car-bottom furnace for plate heat treating at JSW’s Baytown, Texas, plant. The furnace was installed as part of a plant expansion and can normalize plate sized up to 720 inches long, 160 inches wide and 5 5/8 inches thick. The energy-efficient furnace features a state-of-the-art top- and bottom-fired combustion system for superior product uniformity. It also features a double-car design for both high production capacity and product processing flexibility. In addition to the furnace, Tenova Core designed and supplied the complete process-control system.
