EFD Induction received an order for an automatic induction hardening and quenching system from NSK of Japan, a manufacturer of bearing and precision parts. The system, which is to be used for hardening automotive components, is scheduled for delivery before the end of this year. The order marks the first time EFD Induction has sold a system made at one of its manufacturing centers in China to a Japanese customer for use in Japan. According to EFD Induction, induction hardening is being used more often for hardening critical components because each component is hardened individually and only at the desired surfaces. Induction hardening systems also slot easily into existing or planned production lines, thereby maintaining production flows and minimizing the number of parts-in-process.
