AMAG Austria Metall, a manufacturer of aluminum products, commissioned a tiltable melting and casting furnace from Hertwich Engineering. The furnace has been developed jointly by the two companies. The furnace’s capacity is 70 tons, and its nominal melting rate is designed for up to 12 tons per hour, making it the largest furnace of its type at AMAG. Efficient heating with two regenerative-burner pairs results in a specific gas consumption for the melting operation of less than 550 kWh per ton. An electromagnetic pump ensures proper collection of chips and alloying elements as well as good melt circulation, constantly high melting capacity and homogenous temperature distribution in the furnace.
