Trimet Aluminium SE submitted a binding offer to acquire two production plants from Rio Tinto Alcan in France. The acquisition of the aluminum plants in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Castelsarrasin will extend Trimet’s portfolio of specialized light metal products. The production plants were set up by French aluminum manufacturer Pechiney before being taken over by Rio Tinto Alcan, which announced its intention to dispose of the sites last year. The facilities, which have a total workforce of more than 500, produce aluminum wire rod used to make electric cabling for the energy industry and connecting elements for the automotive industry.
