SECO/WARWICK do Brasil delivered a small walking-beam furnace for the sugar cane industry. The furnace runs at a maximum temperature of 950°C (1742°F) and is heated by SiC (silicon carbide) heating elements. In a two-zone temperature control, 600 blades per hour (about 300-540 kg/hour) are processed. The furnace is embedded in existing customer equipment with a customized PLC interface between the process equipment that feeds and unfeeds the furnace. The furnace was shipped from the facilities in Jundiai, Sao Paulo State, Brazil, in May.
