Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI), a full-service materials testing, nondestructive testing and metrology lab, announced the expansion of services available for X-ray inspection, also called radiography or radiographic testing. The lab’s Nondestructive Testing Department now performs computed radiography with a Carestream Industrex HPX-1 Digital System, in addition to conventional film radiography. While the X-ray process is the same for both methods, the computed or digital process differs from conventional X-ray film by producing a digital image that can be saved to a disc, e-mailed to customers and easily archived. Digital radiography may be conducted on various solid products, ranging from plastic injection moldings to steel or aluminum castings and welds.
