An upper hardening chamber, which reaches 2200°F, is stacked above a tempering oven that heats to 1200°F. Both chambers are sized at 12 incheshigh x 14 inches wide x 24 inches long and are insulated with 4.5 inches of lightweight firebrick and mineral wool. The firebrick is precision dry fit with staggered seams for reduced heat loss while allowing for thermal expansion,resulting in lower maintenance costs.
