Following up on a story Industrial Heating reported in August 2012, the Prolamsa Group announced that it will build its new pipe and tubular products facility at Texas Triangle Park in Bryan, Texas. The mill, which will cost in excess of $120 million, is expected to employ more than 285 people. It is scheduled to begin production by mid-2014 and will produce more than 300,000 tons of energy tubular products per year aimed at meeting the growing demand of the U.S. oil and natural gas industries. Construction on the major buildings of the new facility will begin in the next few weeks. The facility will operate under a newly formed company, Axis Pipe and Tube Inc.

The new 183-acre plant will produce ERW energy tubular products in diameters up to 16 inches, with wall thicknesses up to .625 inches. It will have the capability to produce API grades as well as ASTM-specified products. Bryan, located in Brazos County, was selected after a comprehensive search of possible sites throughout the southeastern and southwestern U.S. The Prolamsa Group is a leading producer of pipe and tubular products in North America and currently operates major mills and distribution centers in Mexico and Texas.
