AFC-Holcroft sold a new automated batch integral-quench system to Joy Global of Franklin, Pa. The order consists of four 36-48-36 UBQ (universal batch quench) furnaces with atmosphere top cool chambers, eight UBT temper furnaces, a UBW washer, an automatic bar car, multi-position load and unload tables with scissors lifts and cooling capabilities, stationary tables, tray rollover table, and ProcessMaster controls system. The system will be fully automated, with each load managed/tracked as it is automatically processed through the UBQ line, and it will have complete load data reporting for all process data from entry until discharge. The ProcessMaster controls system is fully integrated with Joy Global’s existing plant-wide production system.

Joy Global will be using the equipment for normalizing, quenching and tempering, carburizing and hardening. The modularity of the UBQ system allows for flexibility in processing and production volumes. The equipment was installed and commissioned in the third quarter of 2012.
