ANDRITZ Bricmont, a member of international technology group ANDRITZ since 2012, received an order to supply 14 melting and holding furnaces for four direct-chill casting cells to Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co. Ltd., one of China’s leading aluminum producers. The new melting and casting lines will have an annual capacity of 500,000 tons per year, and start-up for the first cell is scheduled for October 2014. The scope of supply comprises engineering, equipment and field services for the furnaces, including regenerative burners with advanced controls, electromagnetic stirring and in-bath rotary metal refining systems.
In addition to cells that complement Shandong Nanshan Aluminum’s existing soft-alloy production facility, the new installation contains casting cells dedicated to hard-alloy production. The furnaces for two casting cells will be optimized for hard-alloy production and will include a special tilting design to ensure rapid alloy changeover. The combustion design for the melting furnaces is based on state-of-the-art technology to reduce fuel consumption and NOx generation.
