Industrial Heating's monthly economic indicators for March 2013 were a mixed bag of results. Three out of four indices experienced a decrease from February, but two were over 50, showing growth. Perhaps most important, however, the change in backlog was at its highest level (51.0) since May 2012. March’s numbers:

  • Change in number of request for quotes from Jan. to Feb. – 52.9
  • Change in number of orders from Jan. to Feb. – 48.7
  • Change in backlog from Jan. to Feb. – 51.0
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through March – 49.3

March 2013’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their February 2013 business levels to their January 2013 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
