Super Systems Inc. (SSi) was established in 1995 as a supplier to the thermal-processing industry with a focus on sensor and control technology for protective atmospheres.

The company was founded by Bill Thompson, who has a long history of servicing the heat-treating industry. Today, under the direction of Steve Thompson, SSi provides a wide variety of products and services for the industry worldwide from home offices in Cincinnati, Ohio, to global offices in Queterro, Mexico; Birmingham, England; and Shanghai, China.

SSi’s products include probes, controllers, software, analyzers, and installation and engineering services across all facets of heat treating. The company is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 17025 certified for the calibration of dew point, infrared analyzers and temperature instrumentation. SSi participates in many industry forums, such as AMEC and Nadcap, and is a proud member of the Metal Treating Institute.

SSi prides itself on the quality of its products and services. With a culture of continuous improvement, the company regularly monitors its internal processes, seeking opportunities to enhance those processes so that it can improve existing products and quickly deliver new products to market. SSi’s philosophy for innovation is simple: it listens. Whether the company is serving a customer who needs technology to maximize efficiency and deliver the highest quality services or is investing back into its Research & Development (R&D) team and challenging them with delivering innovative technology to the heat-treating industry, customer focus and innovation have always set SSi apart. Many customers believe the company’s products have provided them with a foundation for “intelligent heat treating,” gaining and maintaining the competitive edge they need.

SSi works with many OEM capital-equipment providers as well as captive and commercial heat treaters. Services include products that address all aspects of heat treating, including vacuum, atmosphere and nitriding applications. The company began developing the SSi Gold Probe to monitor oxygen and carbon. Now, with a commitment to R&D and an outstanding staff, it can cover all software and controls for a heat treater. SSi products are used by many customers to meet such industry requirements as AMS 2750E (previously D), AMS 2759 slash sheets and CQI-9. The company maintains a large inventory and can deliver most products within 24 hours. Its Engineering Services staff is ready to complete turnkey solutions for the most demanding controls and software applications.

Moving forward, SSi will continue to deliver innovative products to the heat-treating industry. The company sees an opportunity to leverage the lower cost of technology and give heat treaters an opportunity to be more productive using smarter devices and providing them with the information they need to be more productive. SSi has a tradition of growth through new product development. Its plan is to continue to develop cost-effective products that customers can count on.
