As we approach the holiday season, Peace on Earth is something that we will hear in songs and desire for our world. Often, our desires are much simpler, and we wish we could just have peace at work. What would it take to find peace (and happiness) where we spend much of our time each day? Let’s take a look at what some surveys say and decide what actions are necessary for us to make peace at work. If you are responsible for employees, it may give you some ideas as to how you can make your workplace more peace-full.
Recent research by the George Washington School of Public Health shows that a work/life imbalance can literally be a pain in the neck. The study indicated that employees reporting high conflict between their job duties and obligations at home had a two-times greater chance of suffering neck or shoulder pain and a three-times greater risk of arm pain. Bottom line: Employees who don’t need to juggle extreme work hours and family obligations might be happier and more productive on the job.
