Industrial Heating's monthly economic indicators for October 2012 suffered a decline from September’s numbers. Three of four indices were under 50, failing to show growth. The change in the number of orders was at its lowest level (45.6) since July 2009. The change in the number of request for quotes, however, showed growth for the eighth time in the past nine months. October 2012’s numbers:

  • Change in number of orders from Aug. to Sept. – 45.6
  • Change in backlog from Aug. to Sept. – 46.2
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through Oct. – 49.7

 

October 2012’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their September 2012 business levels to their August 2012 levels.

A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, in November 2012’s Industrial Heating.
