TevTech LLC of Billerica, Mass., will supply Ceralink Inc. of Troy, N.Y., a vacuum furnace for a custom ultrahigh-temperature application. The furnace incorporates a 6-inch x 6-inch hot zone and will have temperature capability up to 2300°C (4172°F). Ceralink will incorporate microwave energy into the chamber for a combination of microwave and radiant heating. According to Dr. Holly Shulman of Ceralink, "Ultrahigh-temperature microwave-assist technology allows rapid and volumetric heating of non-oxide ceramics. There are significant energy benefits associated with this technology as well as improved and novel materials properties" The furnace is expected to be delivered in January 2013.
