Power Systems Manufacturing (PSM), an Alstom Company, upgraded
two vacuum furnaces at its F-Class gas-turbine reconditioning facility in
Jupiter, Fla., addressing the need for a control and software solution that
provides sophisticated process and recipe control as well as complete load
traceability. PSM offers technologically advanced aftermarket gas-turbine
components. PSM utilizes Super Systems Inc.’s 9220 process controller, which
manages the furnace runs. SSi’s SuperDATA package works in conjunction with the
9220 controller and provides the database engine that matches recipes to parts
and historical loads to process data.
The 9220 controller provides an easy-to-use recipe builder
with numerous operation codes that enable the furnace to process the parts
appropriately. A simple search on load ID, customer or part gives all the
information about the run that can be used by everyone, including but not
limited to quality, production and customer service. The system also provides
quick access to performance parameters regarding productivity, so management
and planning can make better decisions with quick access to key data points.
