Industrial Heating'smonthly economic indicators for May 2012 showed growth for the fourth month in a row. The change in backlog increased from April and was at its second-highest level since January 2011. The change in the number of request for quotes, change in the number of orders and expected change in the health of the industry each dropped slightly from April’s figures, but all four were over 53. May 2012’s numbers:                                                 
  • Change in number of request for quotes from March to April – 53.4
  • Change in number of orders from March to April – 55.1
  • Change in backlog from March to April – 54.6
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through May – 55.7
May 2012’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their April 2012 business levels to their March 2012 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
