Ceralink Inc. announced the opening of a new materials testing facility in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Ceralink Materials Testing (Ceralink MT) will specialize in advanced materials testing services for ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). Ceralink will provide independent testing, quality service and fast response, which is critical for development of CMCs as next-generation materials with higher temperature capability and lower weight. Ceralink MT is now offering high-cycle fatigue testing of CMCs at temperatures up to 2500°F.
The new 6,400-square-foot testing facility houses multiple servo-hydraulic fatigue testing frames and thermophysical analysis instrumentation. Creep rupture and environmental exposure capabilities will be added in the near future. CMCs are strong, lightweight, temperature-resistant materials that are being adopted in aerospace, defense and power-generation applications for increased performance and energy efficiency.
