Tata Steel Orders Walking-Beam Furnaces
Tenova LOI Italimpianti and Tenova Hypertherm will supply
three 350-ton/hour walking-beam furnaces to the new Tata Steel plant in
Kalinganagar, India. Tata Steel’s new hot-strip mill will be the most advanced
installation in the area, which has been growing rapidly in the past two years.
The first two furnaces will begin production in October 2013, and the third
furnace will start up in October 2014. The reheating furnaces will be
equipped with state-of-the-art combustion technology and slab-handling control
systems. Tenova’s scope of supply will be on a turnkey basis, excluding the
civil works.
