Industrial Heating's monthly economic indicators for July 2011 showed growth for the eighth consecutive month. Three numbers – the change in the number of orders, change in backlog and expected change in the health of the industry – increased from June. The change in the number of request for quotes dropped slightly but was still over 55, the highest of all four indices. July’s numbers:
  • Change in number of request for quotes from May to June – 55.7
  • Change in number of orders from May to June – 52.9
  • Change in backlog from May to June – 51.4
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through July – 51.9
July 2011’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their June 2011 business levels to their May 2011 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
