Siemens VAI Metals Technologies will supply a 300-metric-ton twin-ladle furnace to ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH. The plant will replace the two conditioning stands currently used for treating liquid steel, which will help reduce steel-treatment costs. The new furnace, which is scheduled to come into operation by February 2010, will increase the efficiency of the ladle treatment facility and also be able to handle fine alloying work and blowing operations.
Siemens received an order from China’s Henan Zhongfu Industrial Co. Ltd. to equip an aluminum rolling mill with complete automation and drive equipment. The mill, which is designed for annual production of 760,000 tons of flat products, includes four heating furnaces. Siemens will supply basic automation, together with the technological control systems, HMI equipment and associated sensor systems.
