Industrial Heating'smonthly economic indicators for January 2011 showed impressive growth, as all four indices were over 56 for the first time since April 2010. Most impressively, the expected change in the health of the industry was at its highest level since April 2005; the change in the number of orders was at its highest level since May 2007; and the change in backlog was at its highest level since June 2007. January also marked the second straight month all four indicators showed growth, the first time that’s happened since June-July of last year. January’s index numbers:
  • Change in number of request for quotes from November to December – 56.6
  • Change in number of orders from November to December – 58.9
  • Change in backlog from November to December – 57.7
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through January – 58.7
January 2010’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their December 2010 business levels to their November 2010 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
