Industrial Heating'smonthly economic indicators for October showed vast improvement from September’s numbers. Three figures – the change in the request for quotes, change in the number of orders and change in backlog – showed growth and were up from last month. In fact, those same indices were all over 52. The change in backlog was at its highest level since June. October marked the 13th time over the past 14 months where three of four indices showed growth. October’s index numbers:
  • Change in number of request for quotes from August to September – 52.7
  • Change in number of orders from August to September – 53.6
  • Change in backlog from August to September – 52.3
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through October – 47.4
October 2010’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their September 2010 business levels to their August 2010 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
