Industrial Heating's monthly economic indicators for September showed three of four indices fall under 50. The change in the health of the industry increased slightly from last month, and the change in the number of orders showed growth for the 13th straight month. This is the first month, however, that three indices failed to show growth since July 2009. In addition, three of the four indices declined from August’s numbers. September’s index numbers:
  • Change in number of request for quotes from July to August – 49.5
  • Change in number of orders from July to August – 50.9
  • Change in backlog from July to August – 49.5
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through September – 48.9
September 2010’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their August 2010 business levels to their July 2010 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
