Tenova Core has been contracted to design and supply two pipe heat-treating furnaces as part of a major plant expansion project at V&M Star’s Youngstown, Ohio, facility. Tenova Core will provide hydraulically actuated walking-beam-type furnaces for hardening and tempering applications. The furnaces, which will have a maximum output of 54 tons/hour, will feature state-of-the-art combustion systems and advanced process-control systems. Installation is scheduled to take place in 2011.

The combustion systems will be equipped with low-NOx burners and designed to utilize preheated air for a reduced carbon footprint. The process-control systems will be designed to ensure product uniformity. The facility will help supply the shale gas market in the U.S. V&M Star is a company of the Vallourec Group.
