India’s Rashtria Ispat Nigam Ltd. contracted Danieli to supply a new 850,000 metric-ton/year structural mill that will produce a range of structural section types and sizes at rates up to 200 metric tons/hour. The mill, to be installed at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, will be fed with blooms and billets produced at the three new six-strand Danieli conticasters currently under construction at the same site. The plant will consist of a Danieli Centro Combustion walking-beam-type reheating furnace, a 17-stand super-flexible continuous mill and a “double” finishing outlet made up of two lines.

Danieli’s scope of supply includes design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, testing, supply, erection, startup (scheduled for the first quarter of 2011), testing, commissioning and demonstration of performance guarantees. Danieli Automation will provide all electrical and the advanced automation system.
