Can-Eng Furnaces International entered into a contract to supply a complete OCTG (oil-country tubular goods) quench-and-temper line for Welded Tube of Canada. The facility will have the capability of heat treating tubing and casing in API 5CT grades L80/N80 and P110, with future considerations for Q125, in sizes 2.375-10.750 inches OD in lengths of 28-48 feet at a maximum rated production capacity of 40 tons/hour. The walking-beam austenitize and walking-beam temper furnaces utilize an alloy post-and-beam arrangement and are of a side charge and side discharge configuration.
The water-spray quench technology will incorporate OD as well as ID quenching for maximum flexibility. In addition, Can-Eng will supply a wide variety of pipe material-handling systems, including loading conveyors, ambient-air and forced-air chain transfer tables, v-groove roller conveyors, water cooling system, pipe descaler and LEVEL II Automation using Can-Eng’s PET™ System (process enhancement technology). The new facility, to be located in the Niagara region of Ontario, will commence production in late 2010.
