Tenova Core has been contracted to design and supply an austenitizing/tempering roller-hearth furnace for SSAB’s Axis, Ala., plant. The furnace will be installed as part of the company’s new plate quench-and-temper line. The furnace will feature an efficient electrical heating system and high-quality rolls. It will be preassembled in modular sections prior to shipping in order to minimize the furnace installation time required at the plant. The new quench-and-temper line is expected to startup in the first half of 2012.
