Kaiser Aluminum Corp. acquired the Nichols Wire facility in Florence, Ala., which manufactures bare mechanical alloy wire products, nails and aluminum rod for aerospace, general engineering and automotive applications. The facility, which employs approximately 100 personnel, will be integrated into Kaiser Aluminum's Fabricated Products business segment. Nichols Wire will expand Kaiser Aluminum’s offering of small-diameter rod, bar and wire products to its core markets and end-use applications.

The Florence facility is a long-term customer to Kaiser Aluminum’s Newark, Ohio, facility and a supplier to its Jackson, Tenn., facility. Nichols Wire typically generates annual value-added revenue of approximately $15 million at profitability levels comparable to the existing Fabricated Products portfolio. Foothill Ranch, Calif.-based Kaiser Aluminum is a leading producer of semi-fabricated specialty aluminum products.
