Lucifer Furnaces supplied a large, heavy-duty box furnace to Flowserve Corporation, a manufacturer of pumping equipment, for its aftermarket service facility in Greer, S.C. The furnace, which has a 4-foot x 4-foot x 4-foot work chamber, is lined with firebrick, mineral wool and ceramic-fiber insulation for maximum heat retention. Rated for 2300°F, heating elements are situated on the sides, back, door and below the hearth to provide uniform heat. The furnace is being supplied with an over-temperature safety system, programmable controller and pen recorder.

This box furnace will be used in the repair of flow-control equipment. In the past year, Flowserve has purchased six single-chamber units from Lucifer Furnaces for several plants throughout the U.S. in an effort to bring its heat treating in-house.
