Radyne Corp. has delivered a rebuilt system for hardening ammunition shells to the U.S. military. The induction system features a six-position automatic dial indexer, which through-hardens the tip of 30-mm steel projectiles at a nominal rate of 480 parts per hour. This hardening process uses a Radyne 80-kW, 25-kHz induction power converter. This installation complements a previous system Radyne delivered over 15 years ago that processes specialized munitions at a Navy facility.
PLC controls with HMI interface and Radyne QAS process monitoring offer superior process control and monitoring capabilities, assuring quality and repeatability. For system cooling and part quenching, an integrated closed-loop water recirculation system is included.
