Tenova Core completed the start-up of two 235-metric-tons/hour walking-beam furnaces for reheating slabs at Hyundai Steel’s new South Korean plate mill. The fuel-efficient furnaces are equipped with Tenova’s state-of-the-art Flexytech low-NOx burners. Tenova Core also designed and supplied the complete control and automation package, which features an advanced thermal model-based Level 2 control system.
The furnaces started operation in December and are currently operating at capacities that match Hyundai Steel’s scheduled production plan. The furnaces will provide Hyundai Steel with the ability to efficiently reheat slabs for the production of plate products. In addition, Tenova Core is currently erecting three more walking-beam furnaces at the facility for a new hot-strip mill project.
