Vietnam’s Pomina and Thep Viet Steel Group has placed an order with Tenova Melt Shops for the supply of a new melt-shop unit with a Consteel® electric arc furnace (EAF). This unit, which is capable of producing over 1 million tons/year of liquid steel, will be the largest steel melt shop in Vietnam for long products. It will be put into operation by the end of 2011. The unit has a 120-ton tapping size.

Pomina and Thep Viet Steel Group chose the Consteel EAF because of the energy savings, increased yield and its easy operations and flexibility in accepting all kinds of scrap. This is the second melt shop Tenova has supplied to the group. Four of the latest steel projects in Vietnam have selected Consteel technology.
