Industrial Heating’smonthly economic indicators for February were all over 50 for the third straight month, the first such streak since April-June 2008. The change in the number of RFQs and the expected change in the health of the industry both improved from last month. The change in the number of orders and the change in backlog, however, both decreased from January. February’s index numbers:
  • Change in number of request for quotes from December to January – 57.1
  • Change in number of orders from December to January – 51.9
  • Change in backlog from December to January – 51.2
  • Expected change in the health of the thermal-processing industry through February – 54.2
February 2010’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their January 2010 business levels to their December 2009 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
