Tekna Plasma Systems Inc. of Sherbrooke, Quebec, announced the inauguration of its new induction plasma powder production line for metal and ceramic powders. This new line will increase Tekna’s capacity to over 200 tons per year and will be used mainly for producing spherical-cast tungsten-carbide powder (SWC) and for customized powder-treatment tolling services. SWC is an extremely hard and dense powder used for hard-facing applications where wear-resistant coatings are needed. Tekna’s SWC is well known for its unique properties, making it suitable for the production of high-performance components.
Tekna specializes in the design, development and construction of integrated plasma systems for a wide range of materials processing and surface-treatment applications. The company also offers powder-treatment services by induction plasma for refractory metals, cemented carbides and various ceramics.
