Dana Corp. and Super Systems Inc. (SSi) completed a controls and software upgrade to deliver more efficiencies through technology enhancements at Dana’s heat-treating operation in Lima, Ohio. The Lima facility is part Dana’s manufacturing process delivering driveshaft components. The scope of the investment includes new controls and software for batch internal-quench furnaces, endothermic generators, washers and tempers. Ssi completed a control-system installation complemented by SuperDATA, a data-acquisition system, for the heat-treat department. The controls and software allow Dana the ability to run the batch line with complete traceability.
Cincinnati, Ohio-based SSi delivered turnkey installation services along with the engineering, new control panels, instrumentation and software. Based in Toledo, Ohio, Dana is a supplier of axles; driveshafts; structural, sealing and thermal-management products; and genuine service parts. The company employs approximately 35,000 people in 26 countries.
