SMS Siemag successfully commissioned a 120-metric-ton ARCESS® electric arc furnace (EAF) for Russia’s OMZ. With an annual capacity of 600,000 metric tons, the new EAF is capable of producing a wide product range, from structural steels to quality steels as well as high-quality rotor and reactor steel grades for nuclear power stations. Optimized for highly efficient utilization of electrical power, the ARCESS-series EAF is equipped with future-oriented burner and oxygen-injector technologies that help to facilitate high productivity and low production costs.

SMS Siemag’s scope of supply comprised the EAF with addition supply system, gas cleaning plant and the X-Pact® electrical and automation package. It was erected in the modernized shops of OMZ Special Steels.
