IH Economic Indicators: Indices Recover Lost Ground

Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for July 2009 increased in all areas as compared to June’s figures. Three of the four indices gained by at least 4 points. The RFQ index indicates growth. Overall, the numbers were back up to what was seen before last month’s irregular drop. July 2009’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their June 2009 business levels to their May 2009 levels.
Change in number of request for quotes from May to June – 51.3
Change in number of orders from May to June – 45.6
Change in backlog from May to June – 42.1
Expected change in the health of the thermal-processing industry through July – 42.3
A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
