The Timken Company has started up a complete harden, quench and temper heat-treating line at its new thermal-treating facility in Canton, Ohio. Core Furnace Systems, a Tenova Group company, installed the line. The “roller-barrel” heat-treating furnaces will provide hardening and tempering applications for the heat treatment of steel bars and tube. The furnaces, which will provide additional heat-treating capacity at the Canton steel plant, feature energy-efficient combustion systems and advanced process control.

Core’s project scope also included induction preheating, ring quench and a custom-designed material-handling system to seamlessly move the product through the heat-treating process. The Tenova Group consists of 30 companies based in five continents.
