Linde Gases, a division of The Linde Group, reached an agreement to supply its Oxyfuel technology to Sweden’s Stena Aluminium, a producer of recycled aluminum. The installation, scheduled to be completed by the end of February, will be for improvements to one of Stena’s alloying and casting furnaces at its Almhult plant. Benefits of the Oxyfuel solution include increased productivity, as the technology will more efficiently supply the energy needed for dissolution of added alloys and superheat the melt. In addition, greenhouse-gas emissions will be reduced.
Oxyfuel combustion technology is uniquely designed to meet the challenges of the aluminum industry. It typically boosts capacity by up to 30-50%, delivers uniform temperatures to avoid hot spots and reduces fuel consumption and emissions by up to 50%.
