VAC AERO announced that it will install a fourth large vacuum oil-quench furnace at its Oakville, Ontario, thermal-processing facility. The furnace will be used for vacuum hardening of large aircraft landing-gear components and other high-strength steel components. It is a VAC AERO Model VAV 7272-VOQ that will be designed and constructed by VAC AERO’s Furnace Manufacturing Division. The furnace is expected to be commissioned by the fourth quarter of 2009.
The furnace is required to accommodate continued demand for VAC AERO’s vacuum oil-quench process. The company provides heat-treating services in support of all major commercial and military aircraft programs.
