Industrial Heating’smonthly economic indicators for December 2008 failed to show growth in the thermal-processing industry. All four indices declined from November’s numbers and were also at all-time lows. December 2008’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their November 2008 business levels to their October 2008 levels.
  • Change in number of request for quotes from October to November – 41.2
  • Change in number of orders from October to November – 42.3
  • Change in backlog from October to November – 40.9
  • Expected change in the health of the thermal-processing industry through Dec. – 39.7
A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, in January’s Industrial Heating.
