United Process Controls (UPC) has completed the startup of a nitriding system for Service Extrusion Die Co. in Comstock Park, Mich. The Protherm 400-based control system provides automatic control of nitriding processes and includes built-in recipe and alarms management as well as data archiving required by industry quality standards. The installation supports a batch furnace with a work zone of 15.75 inches x 35.5 inches for nitriding aluminum extrusion dies in fully automated cycles.
The new production equipment will help Service Extrusion Die to develop its internal nitriding capability at its Michigan plant in order to improve the quality of extrusion dies and provide faster turnaround to customers. UPC is an alliance of Furnace Controls, Marathon Monitors, Nitrex Metal, Process-Electronic and Waukee Engineering.
