Novelis Inc. announced that it will invest more than $30 million in its operations in Brazil over the next 18 months in a number of projects designed to increase production capacity and introduce new technology. Close to $21 million will be invested in process technology and equipment improvements at the company’s rolling mill and recycling complex in Pindamonhangaba. The upgrades will provide a double-digit increase in the plant’s rolling capacity to 400,000 metric tons per year and increase its annual capacity for aluminum recycling to 150,000 metric tons.
Novelis also announced that it will invest $4.6 million at its Ouro Preto plant to install itsNovelis Fusionsolidification technology for the production of aluminum sheet ingots with multiple alloy layers. In addition, Novelis will invest $4.7 million in an information technology project aimed at integrating and unifying its current operating systems in Brazil.
