G-M Enterprises has received an order for two Model VVF 502-B vertical bottom-loading vacuum furnaces from a major U.S. aircraft engine manufacturer. Each furnace has a work area of 84 inches (diameter) x 60 inches high and also has TZM molybdenum hearth assembly rated for 5,000-pound loads at 2350°F. Furnace configuration includes five power trim areas for temperature uniformity certification to AMS 2750D requirements. The first furnace was delivered in December 2007. The second furnace is scheduled to be delivered in June.
The furnaces have an all-metal hot-zone construction with G-M’s patented two-point heating element supports, including screw-in molybdenum cooling-gas distribution nozzles. They are equipped with an external gas recirculating system rated for 1-bar quench with a 200-HP blower and 4 million BTUs/hour heat exchanger.
