Linde Group has signed a long-term supply contract for industrial gases with international steel producer Corus. The agreement involves the construction of a new air separation unit (ASU) at Corus’ Scunthorpe site in North Lincolnshire. The unit will have a capacity of 1,600 metric tons per day of oxygen as well as smaller quantities of nitrogen.
The new ASU will go on-stream in mid-2010 to support the company’s planned increase in steel output from the site. The contract also involves refurbishment of the existing ASU.
